C-note Definition

"C-note" is a slang word for a one hundred dollar bill or, more generally, for one hundred dollars. For example, you might say to a friend "That DVD recorder cost me two C-notes." The term is derived from the Roman numeral C which represented a value of 100. A C-note might also be called a "C-Bill" or "C-B"; a "Franklin", "Benjamin", or "Benny" in reference to the portrait of Benjamin Franklin on the face; a "big one"; or simply a "bill".
