Employee Benefit Definition

Most employers offer a variety of employee benefits to supplement employee pay. Common examples are subsidized healthcare, dental care, and vision plans; retirement or investment accounts; employee stock purchase plans; medical or child-care savings accounts; and group life insurance access. In market segments where employees are traditionally difficult to attract and retain, other benefits may be offered appealing directly to the class of employee desired. For example, an Information Technology firm might offer the benefit of working on a flexible schedule, or working remotely.
